Sheffield - under-aged test purchasing alert

South Yorkshire Police have issued a warning of on-going test purchasing operations over the summer. This follows an operation carried out by the South East Sheffield Local Policing Team at the weekend, when 12 shops were visited by under-aged customers attempting to purchase alcohol.

The force said one shop failed the test – and indicated that test purchase operations are to continue.

It is, of course, a mandatory requirement that all licensed premises must have an age verification policy in force, of which the most common are Challenge 21 (in the on trade) and Challenge 25 (in the off trade).
